White Lake City Collection
White Lake City, Oregon, was founded in June 1905, with the sale of lots advertised in May of the same year. The city didn’t last long, and was completely gone in a few years. Collection consists of assorted materials: maps, city plans, newspaper clippings, and correspondence related to the White Lake City.
Willamette Cattle Co. Enterprise, 1836
The joint-stock Willamette Cattle Company was formed in 1837 by settlers and pioneers in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, to drive cattle from California. Collection contains a sheet of paper with a title: "Community Development in Oregon: The 1836 Kind" - a description of the delivery of the first 632 head of Mexican cattle to Oregon in 1836. On the reverse side: list of ranches in the alphabetical order by owner's last name, with the accompanying cattle brands for each ranch.
Wool Fiber in the Making
Pendleton Woolen Mills is a textile manufacturing company in Pendleton, Oregon. It is known for its Native American blankets and woolen clothing. Collection consists of a cardboard sheet with text, photographs and attached physical objects describing the process of wool manufacture.
Charles E. Worden Collection
A. Harvey Wright Collection on Tribal Termination in Oregon, 1952-1964
As director of Indian education and training programs for the Oregon Department of Education in the 1950s and 1960s, A. Harvey Wright was very involved in implementing federal education and training programs, including preparations for federal termination of tribal status for several Indian tribes in Oregon. The collection consists of correspondence and documents related to federal termination of tribal recognition for the Klamath Tribes and other Oregon tribes in the 1950s.
